Kiss Me Kiss Me (La La La)-homemade bubblegum song « Thread Started on Oct 3, 2009, 9:09am »
Hey everyone! ^_~
I've finally finished my first bubblegum track. I like the result and I hope you do too. However, please note that this song was recorded in my bedroom and that it thus may sound a bit "lo-fi".
I've also produced the track (most of the times vocalists let other people do that, but I don't ). You see, I'm a DIY artist and I want to have total creative control over my own music. I have a creative mind and I won't let other people tell me what I should and shouldn't do.
The file is stored at 4shared because it's too big to be hosted here.

Great production, and I love the concept!
I think you need to work on your vocals a bit though, I just felt you didn't put much emotion into your voice when singing which makes it sound a bit monotone and boring.
Way better than anything I could produce though! What program did you use to make it? I think this song has great potential!

YES I KNOW THE VOCALS SUCK....... It's just, they're recorded in my bedroom... it's not that I'm a bad singer or anything (because I'm not - in real life my vocals sound awesome OMG EGOTRIPPER I AM)... It's because I still have to figure out all those audio recording stuff... AND I made my voice sqeakier than normal, which makes my throat hurt bad afterwards... Really, it's harder than you guys might think to create a bubblegum voice... But I agree. I'll re-record the song one day anyway... did it, like, a million times earlier but still... I'll try to make it better but I can't promise anything, sorry...
About the music production: it's made in FL Studio 5. Not the newest version, but still a good program. And it's easy, my classmate tried it and he thought it to be very useful and not too difficult. I recommend it to everybody out here! ^_~

Hey how long did it take you to make it? And do you have all the instruments separated into many tracks, or is it just many effects to a few tracks? btw here is something I made but no words.

Hey this is pretty cool!
I can tell you have a good voice, and you probably dont need traditional vocal lessons like I recommended in your post asking for vocal help. I didnt hear this before I posted that comment.
What you need is to develop a falsetto (think Justin Timberlake) and then learn to put power behind it and you will be fine.
Do a google search for something like Falsetto vocal development tutorial. There are different types of falsetto techniques. You might already know some.
If you want to collaborate on some songs let me know. Or better yet, send me a PM. It gets hard keeping track of all the message posts on here.
Here is my most recent song. Still needs real female vocals, maybe U can do them?

Second time listening to the track I have some suggestions.
The vocals need some compression, not much. Im not sure of the compression plugins available for FL 5, Its been a long time since I have used FL.
for the settings try a fairly low threshold amount with a low to medium attack and a medium amount of release. Then from there if you experiment you should hear an improvement.
The vocals sound really clear. Once you add some compression you might get a little boost in the lower frequencies that you don't want, so adding a simple EQ after the compressor and applying a low shelf at about 200Hz should do the trick quite nicely.
To get a more bubblegumy sound on the vocals, you can try boosting the vocals (on the vocal track obviously) with an EQ between 400-800 kHz. Again experiment between the ranges.
Search the internet for EQ Guides. These are invaluable. Sounds like you might already have an idea about EQ concepts after listening to some of your songs. I listened to your myspace stuff too.
